Located on Xiao Guwei Island, part of the Guangzhou University City area, the Guangdong Science Center is about 20km away from Guangzhou urban city. The Center covers about 450,000 square meters and a construction area of about 120,000 square meters.
The design concept for the Guangdong Science Center was derived from an imaginary “island of discovery.” The development is one of the largest centers for discovery and science in the world.
In keeping with the island feel, the design of the science center includes undulating strips of glass and metal panels to create a canopy-like effect over the top level – in a spectacular spatial effect. Diffused natural light filters down through this permeable layer as sunlight might drift through the leaves of a forest. With an abundance of eco-parks, waterfront access, nature paths, and walkways, there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to learn about ecological principles through a series of outdoor exhibits.
Children's Wonderland
The popular science education should start with children. Climbing the ladder, moving bricks and building a wall, be a little architect; operating hydraulic monitor, producing foam and opening the valve, be a brave fireman; linking circuits, assembling gears and making the experiment, be a curious scientist… There is so much fun here in the renovated and upgraded Children’s Wonderland. With 99 fun interactive exhibits in four exhibition areas, the hall allows the children to learn about basic science in daily life through interactive games, role play, scene experiences, and scientific inquiry.

Experiments and Discovery
The theme exhibition hall Experiments & Discovery values dissemination of scientific thinking and methods more than scientific knowledge itself. Within a lab-like setting, visitors will have an immersive experience of the great discovery process of the science pioneers, understand the scientific inquiry approach and learn about scientific thinking.
After the renovation, the hall presents 63 interactive exhibits in exhibition areas, namely the Scientific Discovery Plaza, Mechanics Lab I, Mechanics Lab II, EM Lab, Optics Lab, and Life Science Lab.
